The Southern Alberta Division has an ongoing requirement for individuals wishing to make a career and prepared to accept employment as security officers, and other related services.

Eligibility for Employment

Although hiring preference is given to individuals who have served in Canada's Armed Forces or the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, other individuals of good character and who qualify through our interview and indoctrination process who do not have former service will be considered for employment.

Eligibility for Employment

  • Must be a Canadian citizen or eligible to work in Canada.
  • Former members of the Canadian Forces & RCMP will be given preference.
  • Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance & be eligible for licencing as a Security Officer.
  • Must be in good health and physically fit.
  • Must pass our pre-employment screening & interview criteria.
Must be of good character and prepared to complete our indoctrination training.

Training Provided
Prior to being hired as a Commissionaire, applicants are required to successfully complete, the Commissionaire Qualifying Course. This training requires 48 hours of training time, in classroom and home study and includes Emergency First Aid/CPR training. The training exceeds the standards set by the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) for Security Officers.
Positions Available
All Commissionaires are hired and trained initially as security officers. However, any number of other job opportunities come up from time to time and specialized training may be required.
